Extron Unveils New GLI 2000 Heavy Duty Ground Loop Inhibitors
No External Power Needed & Can be Added Anywhere in a System
Anaheim, California (June 30, 2003) - Extron Electronics is introducing a new GLI 2000 family of Ground Loop Inhibitors for effectively managing and solving a variety of video grounding problems in AV systems. Offering new and improved technology, the GLI 2000 products provide increased saturation voltage and high-performance components to solve almost any ground loop interference problem. The GLI 2000 Series includes three models: the GLI 2000 5BNC, a five-BNC version for all signal types from RGBHV down to composite; the GLI 2000 2BNC, a two-BNC version for S-video and composite video; and the GLI 2000 15HD, a 15-pin HD version for connection of computer-video. These convenient configurations make it unnecessary to keep multiple connector adapters on hand while providing exactly the right solution for a given application. And because the three new compact GLI 2000 models are passive components and do not require an external power supply, they can be added anywhere in a system. Each model comes standard with protective rails which guard connectors from damage should products be dropped or handled roughly during transportation, set-up, or throughout an event. "Their compact, rugged construction makes the GLI 2000 Series of products perfect solutions for rental and staging applications," said Lee Dodson, vice president of marketing for Extron. GLI 2000 Series products are designed for applications that experience ground loop and interference problems, such as those found in convention centers, hotels, or other large buildings. These occur when separate grounds, carrying different loads are connected together by sources and displays within an AV system, resulting in hum bars (50 or 60-cycle noise). This is commonly caused when a projector has its signal source(s) being powered from a different power-ground due to significant distance between them. The GLI 2000 line provides electrical cancellation for systems where it is impractical to connect all equipment to the same ground—inhibiting the loop and virtually eliminating even the strongest hum bars and common mode noise. The Extron GL1 2000 5BNC lists for $995 (USD), GL1 2000 15HD lists for $995 (USD) and the GL1 2000 BNC lists for $445 (USD).
