ICIA Recognizes Extron for Involvement in Rental School
Steve Somers Accepts Award for Extron, a Major Sponsor of the ICIA Academy
Anaheim, California (July 1, 1998) - The International Communications Industries Association (ICIA) recently presented an award to Extron Electronics in honor of Extron's commitment to industry education and sponsorship of the ICIA Rental School. The award was granted by ICIA's Board of Governors and the Board of Directors for the Educational Communications Foundation. Steve Somers, Vice President of Engineering at Extron, accepted the award at ICIA's Fairfax, VA headquarters during their Academy open house. "Extron is committed to education throughout the AV industry," Somers said. "ICIA's Rental School and other training courses offered by the Academy are valuable tools that we wholeheartedly support. This award from ICIA is very meaningful." ICIA's Rental School offers a standardized curriculum for AV rental and staging personnel at all levels of experience and expertise. Four phases of the school are offered: Phase I is ideal for professionals new to the industry or those seeking a basic review course; Phase II offers advanced training on topics such as handling staging of large-scale events and offers education on difficult technologies and technology integration; and Phases III and IV are for sales and management personnel who require specialized training. The ICIA Academy provides informative, educational opportunities for the AV industry worldwide. These include:
- Seminars and workshops at the INFOCOMM International trade show.
- Intensive courses through its week-long Institute for Professional Development.
- Education, training and certification programs in Installation, Design, Rental and Sales.
Like ICIA, Extron Electronics is very much involved with industry support and education. Through programs such as Extron School and Extron School On the Road, as well as its sponsorship of ICIA Academy's educational activities, Extron provides significant educational opportunities for the AV community.
