New Extron IP Link® Module Adds Ethernet Connectivity to Pioneer Plasma Displays
Anaheim, California (June 9, 2004) – Extron Electronics announces the
IPL M PDP-ES, an Ethernet control card for Pioneer Electronics 4G (Fourth Generation) plasma displays. Conforming to the Pioneer ES (Expansion Solution) format, the IPL M PDP-ES features an integrated Web server, high performance architecture, and multi-user support with password protection. In addition to Ethernet connectivity, the IPL M PDP-ES features one 9-pin D-sub serial port that can be configured to pass through Pioneer command codes from the control system. "The IPL M PDP-ES is the ideal way to add IP control to these Pioneer models," says Lee Dodson, vice president of marketing for Extron. "Users will be able to remotely and proactively monitor the display and troubleshoot problems from a distance using any computer with a Web browser. This new module also allows Pioneer plasmas to appear directly in all GlobalViewer® screens along side other IP Link enabled rooms and products." The Web server built into the IPL M PDP-ES features support for Extron's GlobalViewer software. The GlobalViewer is a free Web application with robust features including multiple room views, real-time device status, e-mail notification, and event scheduling. The GlobalViewer enables AV resource management functions including proactive maintenance, event scheduling, remote technical support, and theft alerts.
