Extron Teams Up With Joe Kane to Produce Digital Video Essentials DVD
Anaheim, California (June 12, 2002) – Extron Electronics is proud to be the official corporate sponsor of the latest project from Joe Kane Productions—a comprehensive set of DVDs with critical reference material and tools for the professional AV system integrator. Digital Video Essentials (Professional) focuses on designing, installing, calibrating, and performance checking of digital video and audio in residential AV systems. The first discs are PAL and NTSC introduction programs that provide a foundation to determine system concepts. These will also be available separately for general audiences with guidelines on how to make the most of digital video and audio sources. The DVD set includes over 130 new 'still' and 'motion' test patterns designed specifically for digital display device setup, as well as traditional patterns needed for analog devices. Various computer-generated, high-resolution images can be viewed when Digital Video Essentials (Professional) DVDs are used in a computer's DVD-ROM drive, as well as color filters for R, G, and B. For audio, test signals are offered for optimizing the most widely available formats in the DVD specification, such as the variations of Dolby Digital® (from monaural to the new 6.1 channel format that is decoded to 7.1 in the playback system), DTS®, and PCM audio. In addition, there are test signals for speaker placement, wiring, and system response, as well as signals to help determine the acoustic condition of the room itself. Audio/video timing for all of the audio formats is included. Information on Extron products is also featured on the Digital Video Essentials (Professional) DVDs with brief overviews of each of the Extron product lines, as well as the role they play in AV systems. Instructions and a choice of subtitles are included for easy navigation. Digital Video Essentials (Professional) is available from Extron Electronics.
