Extron Introduces the TSC 100 Transcoder and Standards Converter
Anaheim, California (October 18, 2002) – Extron Electronics is pleased to introduce the TSC 100 transcoder and standards converter. The TSC 100 allows for worldwide compatibility with video standards such as NTSC 3.58, NTSC 4.43, PAL, or SECAM, making it ideal for rental and staging applications. As a transcoder, it takes in one video format, such as a composite video signal, and transcodes it into another video format, such as an S-video signal. As a standards converter, it autodetects the incoming video standard and outputs the chosen standard, either NTSC 3.58 or PAL. A high quality four-line adaptive comb filter performs the Y/C separation, virtually eliminating chroma noise. Key features include autoswitching, sizing presets, and picture controls. Autoswitching allows any input to be selected automatically when a video sync signal is detected, making it ideal for automatic routing and unattended operation. Autoswitching can be activated or de-activated via RS-232. The TSC 100 also offers the option of displaying a blank screen or color bars output when no input is present after being selected. RS-232 allows users to select three factory sizing options for scaling between NTSC and PAL video signals. All inputs, standards, and picture controls (color, tint, brightness, and contrast) are selectable via the front panel. Housed in a 1U high, quarter rack width metal enclosure, the TSC 100 includes an external power supply.
