The Extron FOX II T DP 4K Fiber Optic Transmitter provides long haul extension of DisplayPort video, multi‑channel audio, RS‑232 control, and IR control signals over fiber optic cabling. Engineered with uncompromising quality and proven performance, it uses Extron all‑digital technology to deliver lossless DisplayPort video signals at resolutions up to 4096x2160. This HDCP‑compliant transmitter brings new features to the FOX II Series, which include support for 4K video and Type 2 dual‑mode DisplayPort outputs. The FOX II T DP 4K also includes many integrator‑friendly features such as Key Minder®, EDID Minder®, audio embedding, audio gain and attenuation, an internal test pattern, along with real‑time system monitoring.

The FOX II T DP 4K represents the highest level of performance for the extensive FOX Series of fiber optic products from Extron. It supports resolutions up to 4K to ensure that content is delivered with the highest quality possible over a fiber optic cable. A single transmitter is capable of sending 4K video images up to 4096x2160 at 30 Hz with a 4:4:4 color space over one fiber.

The input loop-through supports Type 2 dual‑mode DisplayPort, and, with the proper cable or adapter, it supports 4K DisplayPort and HDMI displays as well. The FOX II T DP 4K transmitter can be used with the FOX II R DP 4K receiver in point‑to‑point applications or in combination with a FOX Series matrix switcher for an enterprise‑wide HDCP‑compliant distribution system of 4K DisplayPort video, multi‑channel audio, RS‑232 control, and IR control signals.

To simplify integration with digital sources and displays, the DisplayPort transmitter features two Extron technologies: EDID Minder and Key Minder. EDID Minder automatically manages EDID by maintaining continuous EDID communication between connected devices, ensuring that the source powers up properly and maintains video output for display. For digital video signals with protected content, Key Minder authenticates and maintains continuous HDCP encryption to support quick and reliable switching in professional AV environments, while enabling simultaneous distribution of a single source signal to one or more displays.

In addition to DisplayPort video signals, the FOX II T DP 4K supports multi‑channel audio and an analog audio return channel. Multi‑channel audio allows a variety of audio playback options including distribution to surround sound systems. For added flexibility, the analog audio return channel enables a remote audio source at or near the display to transmit stereo audio back to the transmitter for additional processing or distribution, eliminating the need for an additional transmitter and receiver pair.

The FOX II T DP 4K features bidirectional RS‑232 and IR ports for control of AV devices. Sources and displays can be controlled from either the transmitter or receiver end using either RS‑232 or IR signals.

The fiber optic transmitter is available in multimode and singlemode models. The FOX II T DP 4K MM supports multimode fiber at 850 nm, which is typically used within buildings or facilities with moderate-range transmission distances up to 2 km (1.25 miles). The FOX II T DP 4K SM supports singlemode at 1310 nm, offering long-range transmission capability over extreme distances of up to 30 km (18.75 miles). It can be used in very large facilities such as airports and stadiums, and for connecting over very long distances between facilities such as university campuses. Because transmission of content is inherently secure and immune to outside interference, fiber applications are particularly favored in government, military, and medical environments. For enhanced security, the extender can be set up to trigger an external control system for immediate notification if a fiber link is lost. It features industry standard LC-type connectivity. The 1U, half rack width metal enclosure is designed for installation in professional AV environments.
