The IPL 250 is an Ethernet control processor for use as part of a TouchLink® configurable touchpanel control system. The IPL 250 provides vital AV system control capabilities including bidirectional serial ports, IR ports, relays, and contact closure inputs for interfacing with displays, switchers, sources, screen control, lighting systems, and other devices. The IPL 250 is configured using the free, easy-to-use Extron Global Configurator software. Using the Free GlobalViewer® Web-based AV resource management and remote control application, users can manage, monitor, and control both Extron and third-party equipment like projectors, plasmas, monitors, VCRs, DVD players, and other devices in an Ethernet network with the IPL 250.
Serial Ports
The Extron IPL 250 features three bidirectional RS-232 ports. When configured for pass-through mode, the IPL 250 can pass through commands from an existing control system without losing the ability to communicate with the AV device.
IR Capability
The IPL 250 includes four fully programmable IR ports. Each IR port can output IR signals with or without the carrier signal using a wired IR emitter or through an IR broadcaster. IR control data can be collected and stored in two ways: IR data file download and IR learning. Extron maintains a vast library of IR data files that can be downloaded from our Web site for storage in the IPL 250. In addition, the IPL 250 has the ability to learn IR commands for virtually any IR controllable device. IR learning is a simple and easy process using Extron IR Learner software and the IR remote provided with the device. The IPL 250 will power four IR emitters, each up to 400 feet away.
Contact Closure and Relays
Four contact closure inputs interface with other systems in the room and provide a connection to a variety of devices, such as sensors, switches, and relays. In addition, the IPL 250 contains four relays for controlling screens, projectors, lights, security gates, and more.
E-mail Capabilities for Proactive Service
By using Extron GlobalViewer software, a free Web-based AV resource management and remote control application for institutional AV environments, users can manage, monitor, and control both Extron and third-party equipment like projectors, plasmas, monitors, VCRs, DVD players, and other devices in an Ethernet network with the IPL 250. GlobalViewer supports e-mail notification, where technical support staff can receive failure and service messages through an e-mail enabled cell phone, PDA, pager, or Internet e-mail account. For secure installations that do not allow Internet access, online monitoring can still be performed proactively. Within an existing secure infrastructure, e-mail notification of failures and repairs is possible without compromising the security of the AV systems or facility.
