The Extron MTPX Plus 6400 Series represents the next level of large-scale twisted pair matrix switching, building on the success of the MTPX Plus Series product line. The MTPX Plus 6400 Series simplifies the design and integration of complex twisted pair matrix switching systems by offering advanced, integration-friendly features that dramatically reduce costs associated with rack space, cabling, and installation. The MTPX Plus 6400 Series is available in five different I/O sizes, from 48x48 to 64x64. In addition to offering all of the same features found in the MTPX Plus Series, the MTPX Plus 6400 Series provides EDID Minder® for local inputs and outputs, RS-232 insertion from the Ethernet port to individual or all MTP outputs, and switchable video pre-peaking on all outputs.

When paired with Extron MTP U Series Universal Transmitter and Receivers, MTPX Plus Series Twisted Pair Matrix Switchers allow VGA, component video, S-video, and composite video, along with audio or RS-232 control signals, to be sent over a single CAT 5-type cable and output on the appropriate connector at the display. Using one cable for all signal types simplifies system wiring and requires only a single matrix switcher output and MTP U R Series receiver per display.

Additional features of the MTPX Plus 6400 Series include dynamic skew equalization to maintain RGB color alignment at all times, video level and peaking compensation for brighter and sharper images, local RS-232 insertion ports to eliminate the need for control system wiring to remote displays, local high resolution video inputs and outputs to eliminate the need for additional transmitters and receivers, and local audio output volume adjustment and muting without the need for preamplifiers in many AV systems.

Dynamic Skew Equalization

Dynamic skew equalization on all inputs and outputs ensures that CAT 5-type cable skew is eliminated, regardless of the combination of input/output cable lengths selected. This feature enables the necessary skew compensation to be configured during installation for each input/output combination. These configurations are then stored in memory and applied automatically during operation. Since the skew compensation is in the matrix switcher, skew compensation is not required in the receivers.

RS-232 Insertion From Ethernet Port to All MTP Outputs

RS-232 via the Ethernet port allows direct insertion of bidirectional serial control to individual or multiple MTP outputs. This feature simplifies control since a single communication port can control multiple remote displays. It also reduces cabling, installation time and cost, and control system RS-232 communication port requirements.

EDID Minder®

The MTPX Plus 6400 Series features EDID Minder®, a selectable feature that enables automatic and continuous management of the EDID information between the local input sources and the local displays. EDID Minder® automatically captures and stores EDID information from the display. It also can generate emulated EDID data to match the native resolution of the display. By maintaining continuous EDID communication with all local sources, EDID Minder® ensures that the source powers up properly and reliably outputs content to the display.

Switchable Video Pre-Peaking on All Outputs

To provide additional compensation for optimal performance on the longest cable runs, the MTPX Plus 6400 Series offers switchable video pre-peaking on all outputs. This ensures the highest quality signal at the display.

Local High Resolution Video Inputs and Outputs

Local high resolution video inputs and outputs enable direct connection of equipment located in the same rack as the switcher, greatly reducing system complexity by eliminating the need for additional transmitters and receivers. The result is significant cost savings on rack space, equipment, cabling, and power requirements.

Hot Swappable and Redundant Power Supplies

The MTPX Plus 6400 Series is designed for optimum performance and reliability in mission-critical applications requiring continuous operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is hot swappable so that the matrix switcher can be serviced or reconfigured without powering down the unit and interrupting all signal routing. It includes two AC power inputs for added power reliability.
