The Extron MTPX Plus 3216 Twisted Pair Matrix Switcher represents the next generation of twisted pair integration. Local video and audio inputs and outputs enable direct connection of equipment that is located within the same rack as the MTPX Plus 3216 matrix, greatly reducing system complexity by eliminating additional MTP transmitters and receivers. The MTPX Plus 3216 also provides dynamic skew equalization on all inputs and outputs. This industry first innovation ensures that MTP cable skew is eliminated —no matter which combination of input/output cable lengths are selected. Yet another innovative feature, local RS-232 insertion ports, allows a control system located near the MTPX Plus to connect to and control remote displays over the same MTP output cable that carries the AV signal.

When paired with Extron MTP U R Series Universal Receivers, MTPX Plus Series Twisted Pair Matrix Switchers allow composite video, S-video, and VGA, along with audio or RS-232 control signals, to be sent over a single CAT 5-type cable and output on the appropriate connector at the display. Using one cable for all signal types simplifies system wiring and uses only a single matrix switcher output and MTP U R Series receiver per display.

Additional features include switchable pre-peaking on eight of the MTP outputs to drive signals long distances, audio input gain and attenuation to balance audio levels, output volume control for the local outputs, and IP Link Ethernet connectivity. The powerful feature set in the MTPX Plus 3216 Twisted Pair Matrix Switcher enables integrators to greatly reduce installation time and costs associated with rack space, cabling, and installation, when compared to traditional twisted pair matrix switching.

Local audio inputs and outputs — Support stereo audio sources and output unbalanced line level mono audio for processing, or distribution.

Audio input gain and attenuation — Eliminates noticeable differences in volume when switching between sources.

Local audio output volume adjustment and muting — Eliminates the need for preamplifiers in many AV systems.

Ethernet monitoring and control — Enables Web-based remote management, monitoring, and control.

Enhanced QS-FPC™ - QuickSwitch Front Panel Controller — A separate button for each input and output, enables simple, intuitive operation.

Tri-color, backlit buttons accept custom window labels — Clear plastic backlit buttons can be custom-labeled for easy identification. Buttons illuminate red, green, or amber, depending on function, for ease-of-use in low-light environments.

Compatible with Extron MTP products — Works with all MTP Series transmitters and receivers, including the MTP U R Series Universal Twisted Pair Receivers.

Front panel security lockout — Restricts access in unsecured environments.

View I/O mode — Easily view which inputs and outputs are actively connected.

Global presets — Allow you to set up I/O configurations and store them in memory for future use.

I/O grouping — Allows the matrix switcher to be virtually divided into smaller sub-switchers.

Rooming — All models can be programmed to group selected outputs into specific "rooms," each with its own set of unique presets.

RS-232 and RS-422 control port — Enables switcher control and configuration via the Extron Windows-based control program, or integration into a control system.

Front panel configuration port — For convenient configuration access after installation is complete.

Rack-mountable metal enclosure — All MTPX Plus Series twisted pair matrix switchers are housed in either 2U or 3U, full rack-width metal enclosures.
