The Extron NetPA U 2002 SB
Model Version Description Part #
NetPA U 2002 SB Two Ch Bridgeable Output Dante Amp, 200/400 Watts 60-1757-01

The Extron NetPA U 2002 SB is an ENERGY STAR qualified, Dante-enabled audio power amplifier with flexible outputs that can drive 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 70 volt, or 100 volt loads in a half rack, convection cooled, plenum rated enclosure that includes rack mount hardware. The bridgeable outputs can deliver two 200 watt channels into low impedance systems or one 400 watt channel into low or high impedance systems. Onboard audio DSP includes a 6x6 mix matrix, filters, and dynamics. Four mic/line inputs and two line outputs can be utilized as Dante endpoints or as additional inputs to the onboard DSP. System monitoring via the Dante connection includes detailed amplifier status. The NetPA U 2002 SB features Extron’s patented highly efficient Class D amplifier design with CDRS – Class D Ripple Supression, and defeatable auto‑standby with fast wake up.

Dante Audio Networking

Dante provides scalable audio transport, with Dante Domain Manager support, over a local area network using standard Internet protocols. The family of Dante-enabled products from Extron work together as part of a complete networked audio system solution and integrate with other Dante-enabled products to create efficient system designs. With AES67 support, NetPA amplifiers accommodate a range of audio routing needs in a variety of applications.

Setting up a network of Extron Dante-enabled products requires Dante Controller software. Dante Controller is used to easily assign an output from a Dante-enabled device, such as an Extron DMP Plus Series processor, to an input on a NetPA Ultra amplifier.

DSP

A built in 6x6 mix matrix allows any analog or Dante input to be routed to any amplifier output, Dante output, or analog line output. The Dante and analog line outputs are parallel with each other and separate from the amplifier outputs. Included in the mix matrix is essential processing such as gain adjustments, filters, dynamics, and delay.

Control and Monitoring

A network connection through a DMP Plus Series processor over a Dante network and RS-232 provide control of amplifier parameters as well as monitoring of the amplifier's status.

Analog Line Outputs

The post input DSP analog line outputs allow for connection of additional amplifiers, simplifying connection to the source while maintaining consistent processing. These line outputs have processing separate from the amp outputs to account for unique delay and level requirements.

Switchable Bridging

The flexibility provided by selectable output modes makes a NetPA U 2002 SB a go-to solution for nearly any network audio application requiring 200 watts to 400 watts per channel. This single power amplifier can handle the requirements of many system configurations.

  • Two 8/4 ohm 200 watt channels for high performance stereo program playback
  • A single bridged 400 watt high impedance channel for high performance 70V/100V systems

Compact Installations

The NetA U 2002 SB doesn't require empty rack spaces for cooling or external transformers, allowing it to be installed in less rack space compared to competitive amplifiers. This is made possible by Extron's advanced thermal engineering, which includes fanless convection cooling, no chassis heatsinks, and Everlast power supplies. The cumulative effect of hundreds of precise design choices enables many NetPA U 2002 SB units to be placed in an equipment rack without the need to waste rack space for ventilation above the amplifiers.

Designed by Extron

Every circuit in a NetPA Ultra power amplifier is designed by our team of dedicated power amplifier engineers, ensuring that every Extron amplifier meets our high standards of excellence. By designing everything in-house, Extron engineers can meticulously optimize every detail for maximum performance, reliability, power efficiency and reduced heat.

High Efficiency

With tested and measured efficiency benchmarks up to 77%, a NetPA Ultra amplifier uses less electricity to generate the same amount of power. This has the direct benefit of lower electricity costs and less power infrastructure required.

Cool Operation

A NetPA Ultra amplifier runs up to 28% cooler, with up to 49% less power wasted as heat, and up to 59% less radiated heat compared to competitive amplifiers. Electronics that run cooler, last longer and don’t transfer heat to other gear sharing the same rack. The low radiated heat of the NetPA Ultra amplifiers, enabled by our advanced thermal engineering, saves on cooling costs and allows more channels of amplification to be put into fewer rack spaces.

InstaWake

The NetPA U 2002 SB meets ENERGY STAR qualification requirements with an auto power-down feature that places the amplifier into standby after 25 minutes of inactivity. When in standby, the NetPA U 2002 SB draws less than four watts of power. It quickly comes out of standby upon detection of signal in under 100 milliseconds, fast enough that the beginning of sound is not cut off. When coming out of standby, the NetPA U 2002 SB draws minimal inrush current, creating no sudden demand on power systems. For applications where the amplifier is required to remain active at all times, an NetPA Ultra amplifier provides the ability to defeat auto-standby while maintaining ENERGY STAR status.

Rock-Solid Reliability

Product reliability is a high priority at Extron and we go to great lengths to engineer products with industry-leading low failure rates, driven by rigorous testing of everything we ship. From the elimination of short-lived electrolytic capacitors in the signal path, to PCB designs that exclude the use of failure-prone wire harnesses, to accelerated burn-in testing, the NetPA U 2002 SB is engineered by Extron for many years of service.
