The Extron PowerCage MTP T 15HD RSA is a modular board-designed MTP Twisted Pair transmitter for the PowerCage^® 1600 enclosure. It transmits VGA and summed mono audio signals, or RS-232 serial control signals, over a single CATx cable. Supported video formats include RGBHV, RGBS, RGsB, RsGsBs, HD component video, S-video, and composite video. The PowerCage MTP T 15HD RSA is compatible with resolutions up to 1920x1200 and will support cable lengths of 600 feet (185 meters) or more with XGA signals, and 450 feet (135 meters) or more with UXGA signals. The PowerCage MTP T 15HD RSA is compatible with the entire MTP Series of twisted pair products.

The single-slot board design of the PowerCage MTP T 15HD RSA allows for as many as 16 transmitters to be populated in the PowerCage 1600 enclosure, reducing installation time and simplifying power management. The PowerCage MTP T 15HD RSA transmitter is hot-swappable, allowing for replacing or upgrading boards in the field at any time, without having to power down the system.

The PowerCage MTP T 15HD RSA features EDID emulation, a selectable feature for specifying the rate of the incoming VGA signals. EDID emulation ensures that the computer source will output the proper resolution required for the display. The PowerCage MTP T 15HD RSA also includes switchable video output pre-peaking, which provides additional compensation for the longest cable runs, ensuring the highest quality signal at the display.

The PowerCage MTP T 15HD RSA can be used with any CATx twisted pair cable or with Extron Enhanced Skew-Free™ AV UTP cable. When using data grade twisted pair cable for sending high-resolution video signals long distances, a problem called skew can cause a distortion in the image, resulting in visible color separation. Select Extron MTP Twisted Pair Receivers feature an integrated skew delay equalizer that solves this problem and restores image quality. Skew can also be corrected with an Extron SEQ 100 15HD Skew Equalizer at the receiving end of any cable run where skew is a problem, or by using Extron's Enhanced Skew-Free™ AV UTP cable to make system connections.

The MTP Series

The PowerCage MTP T 15HD RSA SEQ is fully compatible with MTP Series twisted pair products, designed for easy integration into new and existing AV environments. The MTP Series is a complete twisted pair system including transmitters, receivers, switchers, matrix switchers, and distribution amplifiers, providing the ability to send, route, and distribute video, audio, and control signals. The entire family of Extron MTP Series products sets the price/performance standard for audio/video twisted pair technology.

Benefits of Using Twisted Pair

Because the MTP Series utilizes CATx cable for distribution, it offers considerable advantages in cost, performance, and ease of installation. CATx cable is a fraction of the size of coaxial cable, and much lighter, more flexible, and less expensive, thus providing AV system designers and installers with an economical, space efficient solution for a variety of applications.

Space-saving design in a compact 3U, rack-mountable enclosure — The compact design of the PowerCage 1600 enclosure accommodates up to 16 single-slot or 8 double-slot boards. The PowerCage 1600 eliminates individual power supplies for each transmitter and receiver, and provides forced-air cooling for each module.

EDID Emulation provides selectable resolutions and refresh rates to ensure reliable operation — The PowerCage MTP T 15HD RSA provides a means for specifying the rate of the incoming signal, ensuring proper communication with the video source.

Switchable video output pre-peaking — Provides additional compensation for optimal performance on the longest cable runs, ensuring the highest quality signal at the display.
