Extron Quantum® Ultra Connect 84 and Quantum Ultra Connect 128 are eight and twelve HDMI input videowall processors for systems with up to four or eight displays. They deliver the same high-quality scaling and real-time performance as Extron's Quantum Ultra processors, featuring the Vector™ 4K scaling engine and HyperLane® high-speed video bus technology. Custom output resolutions, input and output image rotation, and bezel compensation provide compatibility with a wide variety of display technologies. Flexible window placement allows side-by-side, overlap, and picture in picture image positioning. For HDCP-encrypted content, Key Minder® and SpeedSwitch® Technology deliver virtually instantaneous switching. RS-232, USB, and Ethernet interfaces provide control system connection, eliminating the need for a dedicated control computer.
Unparalleled Real-Time Performance
Quantum Ultra Connect features a high-speed video bus that incorporates Extron HyperLane technology. It delivers real-time performance unattainable by other videowall processors.
The HyperLane video bus has a maximum throughput of 400 Gbps, providing full compatibility with the highest video resolutions currently in use, such as 4K/60 with 4:4:4 color sampling. This technology serves one purpose: transporting video data between input and output cards. The dedicated nature of the bus means performance is completely consistent, predictable, and unaffected by any other element of the system. HyperLane ensures smooth presentation of sources, without variance in the frame rate of the displayed source layout.
Vector 4K Scaling
Quantum Ultra Connect includes the Extron-exclusive Vector 4K scaling engine, it was developed in‑house and engineered to deliver best-in-class image upscaling and downscaling. Vector 4K embodies several Extron-patented scaling technologies, plus a new set of image processing algorithms that deliver uncompromising scaling performance. The technology enables sharp, accurate 4:4:4 processing and scaling of computer and video signals up to 4K, as well as downscaling of 4K source signals for display in small windows or on lower resolution displays without losing critical image detail. It also delivers seamless transitions between presets, with selectable cut or fade through black options.
Input and Output Configurations
Quantum Ultra Connect 84 features two IN4HDMI cards, accepting eight HDMI signals up to 2K, four HDMI signals up to 4K/30, or two signals up to 4K/60. The OUT4HDMI output card delivers from one to four outputs at resolutions from 1024x768 to 4K/60.
Quantum Ultra Connect 128 features three IN4HDMI cards, allowing twelve HDMI signals up to 2K, six HDMI signals up to 4K/30, or three signals up to 4K/60. Two OUT4HDMI output cards deliver from two to eight outputs at resolutions from 1024x768 to 4K/60.
Integrator-friendly features such as EDID Minder® and HDCP authorization simplify source integration. Custom output resolutions maximize compatibility with evolving display technology and custom LED wall applications. Also, HDCP Visual Confirmation provides immediate visual confirmation that encrypted content cannot be viewed on the displays.
Supports Diverse Display Technologies
The output processing of the Quantum Ultra Connect is extremely flexible and configurable, making it compatible with nearly any display type, for any application. Adjustable bezel compensation ensures content appears natural when magnified across flat panel displays. To accommodate displays with portrait and landscape orientation, it includes output rotation. Custom output resolutions provide compatibility with current and future display devices, as well as custom LED walls.
Advanced Capabilities
From entertainment applications to collaborative data sharing, the many capabilities of Quantum Ultra Connect ensure your video display presents the information you need, exactly how you want to see it. HDMI inputs can be windowed and positioned anywhere on the video display, and input sources can be rotated in 90-degree increments. For critical viewing, the zoom functionality allows an area within a video source to be expanded. Seamless cut and fade through black transition effects are available when switching between presets, delivering fast, glitch-free, and professional-looking presentations for any application. Up to 64 windows can be displayed per output card, allowing flexible presentation of unique and repeated live sources. Dynamic, internal test patterns simplify system configuration and display setup.
Mission-Critical, Secure Operation
Quantum Ultra Connect was engineered for continuous operation in mission-critical environments. Its Everlast™ power supply was designed and engineered by Extron for dependable 24/7 operation. The videowall processor features solid-state storage, providing fast boot-up and stability for the operating system. In the event of a critical component failure, unsolicited remote messaging notifies system administrators.
This videowall processor is certified by the Joint Interoperability Test Command – JITC for use in government installations. Inclusion on the Department of Defense Information Network-Approved Product List - DoDIN APL validates that Quantum Ultra Connect has successfully completed interoperability and information assurance testing for use in command and control, conference, training, and briefing room systems.
To impede viral infections, the processor’s embedded operating system is write-protected, preventing permanent modifications to the file system without administrator password verification. This eliminates the possibility of viruses or unauthorized file updates from being retained across a power cycle. SSL communication protocol provides an encrypted connection between the Extron Videowall Configuration Software – VCS and the Quantum Ultra Connect for system configuration and digitally signed firmware upgrades. A system event log with a user-definable maximum size is maintained as a locally stored file and can be downloaded directly from the processor.
System Configuration and Control
Quantum Ultra Connect setup and preset configuration are performed using VCS running on a computer connected to the processor’s Ethernet port or USB port. Settings and preset changes within the software are automatically synchronized and stored on the videowall processor, facilitating direct RS-232, USB, or Ethernet connection of local or remote control systems. A full-featured control protocol enables access to preset selection, window source selection, window size, position, visibility, and many more presentation options.
Intuitive Control
EMS-Quantum Ultra combines the freedom of wireless operation with an easy to use application specifically designed for intuitive control. It is compatible with Apple® iOS®, Google® Android™, and Microsoft® Surface platforms.
Familiar finger gestures facilitate preset selection, window size and position, source selection, and other common operational tasks. It can act as the sole point of control or work in conjunction with VCS and a control system such as an Extron IP Link® Pro control processor and a TouchLink® Pro touchpanel. Up to 10 mobile devices can control the Quantum Ultra Connect system. Separate User, Designer, and Administrator credentials define operational roles.
