Anaheim, California (April 23, 2001) - Extron announces the addition of a new line of digital matrix switchers to Extron's extensive family of more than 300 matrix switchers. The Digital XPoint matrix switcher line is the ideal solution for switching serial digital video signals to multiple digital video devices in production studios, staging events, non-linear editing suites, and broadcast studios. The Digital XPoint line includes two models: the DXP 88 SDI (eight input, eight output) model and the DXP 44 SDI (four input, four output) model. Each input has an equalized and buffered loop-through, and each output is dual buffered and re-clocked. These SDI matrix switchers handle four SMPTE 259M data rates: 143, 177, 270 and 360 Mb/s. They are capable of switching 4fsc (composite) or 4:2:2 (component) serial digital video transmission standards. The Digital XPoint Series provides automatic rate selection, which automatically detects and locks onto the incoming data signal. Automatic cable equalization typically equalizes input signals from distances of greater than 300 meters (984 feet) at 270 Mb/s of Extron Super High Resolution or equivalent high quality cable. The Digital XPoint Series provides Extron's exclusive Digital Sync Validation Processing (DSVP™) to verify active sources. When input serial data is locked, the matrix indicates the presence of a carrier source and data rate. 16 global presets enable individual I/O configurations to be saved and conveniently recalled either from the front panel or RS-232/422. Digital XPoint matrix switchers come standard with front panel control. The easy-to-use front panel features large, illuminated push buttons that can be labeled with text or graphics. The LCD displays current input/output configuration, preset configurations, data rate, and input carrier detect, as well as the status of additional system features. Remote control is available using Extron's remote keypads (MKP 1000) and/or remote control panels (MCP 1000). Control using a third party control system can be done via RS-232/422. Extron's Simple Instruction Set (SIS™) of command codes makes RS-232/422 control of these switchers easy and intuitive. Each Digital XPoint is housed in a rack-mountable, 1U high, 19" wide enclosure convenient for space-restrictive installations. For discreet and easy access, the Digital XPoint Series provides mounting brackets suitable for three options: a standard 19" rack, under-desk mounting, or through-desk mounting. The 100-240 volt, auto switchable, internal power supply provides international power compatibility. The DXP 44 SDI's part number is 60-401-02, and the DXP 88 SDI's part number is 60-401-01.
