Major International Retailer Chooses Extron TouchLink™ Touchpanel for the Boardroom
Big Shopping Centers USA owns 24 high-end, "power center" shopping malls across the U.S., totaling more than 4 million square feet and consistently featuring top national and international chains. When the boardroom in its corporate offices needed an AV system, the company reinforced its preference for top quality and name brands by choosing Extron Electronics products, including the TLP 350MV TouchLink™ Touchpanel.

The Offices
The company's Corporate offices consist of 3,000 square feet in the heart of Beverly Hills, California, with six private offices, an open work station for four employees and a 30' x 16' conference room where the AV equipment is located. The conference room is used for small meetings and presentations, software training videos, and teleconferencing.
Choosing Extron
Local Southern California AV system integrator Digital Networks Group, DNG, was hired to design and install the new AV system. DNG Senior Account Manager and AV Technology Specialist Steve Rodriguez says, "We chose Extron equipment because of the company's reputation for quality and service." More specifically, "Extron control technologies allowed us to build a small, fast, reliable system that fit the limited space of the conference room while delivering the top quality performance that the client demanded."
Sources and Displays
AV sources include a rack PC, DIRECTV® tuner, Blu-ray Disc™ player, and laptop computers. The signal destinations include a projector mounted on a lift, an LCD display, and four Extron SI 26CT two-way ceiling speakers.
Audio and Video
Source signals run through an Extron MVX 84 VGA A, an 8x4 VGA and stereo audio matrix switcher with ultra-wideband performance for routing high resolution component video and HD signals to the displays.
Audio signals are sent through an Extron MPA 401, a 40 watt mono power amplifier, to the SI 26CT ceiling speakers. The MPA 401 was chosen for its cool-running, fanless design, important for a small room like this one where all equipment is mounted in a credenza with limited ventilation.
TouchLink and Ethernet Control
DNG chose the TLP 350MV, a wall mounted TouchLink touchpanel that offers a 3.5" touchscreen and backlit buttons.
The touchpanel works with an IPL 250 Ethernet Control Processor to control the entire AV system. The IPL 250 provides four relay ports and four contact inputs to control the motorized screen, projector lift, projector, LCD display, matrix switcher, and sound system.
Big Results
"Our Extron system makes our meetings more engaging and interactive," says Big Shopping Centers Office Operations Manager Rebecca Zamrycki Essenpreis. "We play software training videos through the Extron system in the conference room, teleconference with our parent company in Israel, and our Extron system allows us to do it all with ease. Our touchscreen interface makes it easy to select the source, as well as the desired display, in just a few steps." This installation proves that even small systems can achieve big results.
