Extron Expands Fiber Optics Product Line

Anaheim, California (June 19, 2007) - Extron Electronics announces a significant expansion to their family of fiber optics products for long haul, digital transmission and distribution of high resolution AV signals. The Fiber Matrix 6400 is a high performance, configurable fiber optic matrix switcher, expandable in sizes from 8x8 to 64x64. It features 4.25 Gbps digital switching capability, as well as hot-swappable input/output boards and redundant power supplies for field upgradeability and reliability in mission-critical environments. Joining the Fiber Matrix 6400 is the FOX 500 DA6, a six output fiber optic transmitter and distribution amplifier for RGB computer-video, audio, and RS-232 control signals. Also new are two fiber optic extenders, the FOX 500 DVI for sending DVI, audio, and RS-232, and the FOX HD-SDI for multi-rate SDI signals. Both models require just a single fiber for transmission. All fiber optics products from Extron feature exclusive zero compression, all digital technology for perfect pixel-for-pixel transmission.

The Fiber Matrix 6400 is fully compatible with the FOX 500, FOX 500 DVI, and FOX HD-SDI fiber optic transmitters and receivers. It accepts and routes high resolution video signals including 1600x1200 computer-video, DVI, and dual-link HD-SDI. The FOX 500 DVI transmitter or receiver can be paired with the standard FOX 500 transmitter or receiver to provide ultra-long distance transmission and conversion of DVI signals to analog RGB and vice versa.

The FOX 500 DA6 provides six optical outputs for distribution to FOX 500 Series fiber optic receivers, each via a single fiber link. It features active optical signal splitting so that original transmitter power levels are maintained for all outputs. The FOX 500 DVI delivers perfect pixel-for-pixel transmission of DVI signals up to UXGA (1600x1200) resolution. Finally, the FOX HD-SDI enables long haul transmission of multi-rate SDI signals up to 2.97 Gbps including SDI, HD-SDI, and dual-link HD-SDI.
